Where Are Acche Din? Gujarat Congress Asks BJP-led Govt

| Updated: May 9, 2022 17:01

Gujarat Congress has slammed Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for the rising inflation across the country. The State Congress Chief Jagdish Thakor told VoI that the people in the state are now struggling to buy basic necessities.  “Prices of petrol-diesel, CNG, vegetables, and edible oil are skyrocketing,” he explained. The state government’s failed economic policies are bearing down on the life of lower and middle-class people.

Congress Chief Spokesperson Manish Doshi said that the price of a gas cylinder has been increased by Rs50 once again. “The BJP government is making life difficult for the poor and common people by raising the price of gas cylinders, which now cost more than Rs1000.”

Gujarat Congress stressed that the BJP government at the Center has abolished gas subsidy too now. “Is this their ‘Acche Din’ policy?”

Talking to VoI, Gujarat Congress State in Charge, Raghu Sharma said that in the year 2012-13, the Congress government at the Center allocated a subsidy of Rs39,558 crore. In the year 2013-14, the Congress government spent Rs46,458 crore, which the Narendra Modi-led government slashed to Rs18 crore in 2015-16 and to zero in 2016-17.

Sharma further said that ordinary middle-class families were facing financial difficulties due to the high cost of education, and health care, rising premiums from insurance companies, and declining salaries.

“The Rupee has fallen to a low of Rs77 against the Dollar. Food inflation is high, living costs are increasing, lower class and middle-class families are facing a decline in incomes, falling interest rates on fixed deposits are making life difficult for senior citizens and their families,” Sharma said

AICC Secretary KC Venugopal told VoI that the BJP government came to power with the slogans of ‘Bahut hui mehangai ki mar’, and ‘Achche Din’, but now it is proven that their government has failed.
