On 3rd August 2022, Wednesday, GLS University’s Faculty of Commerce (SMPIC) – CWDC organized a Seminar on ‘Awareness on Women’s Health and Menstrual Hygiene’ for the girl students in GLS Auditorium. Dr. Anar Mehta and Ms. Swati Bedekar conducted the seminar.
Women have always feared their periods, even children of tender ages. This very important, but less publicly discussed topic was brought to light in very simple terms by speakers Swati Bedekar and Anar Mehta.
According to Dr. Anar Mehta, about 5 million women cannot live their lives normally due to a lack of menstrual products and knowledge, due to which affects the economy of the country.
Mrs. Swati Bedekar explained the entire process of Menstrual to the students through fun and simple PPT. Through the seminar, information was given about the use of Biodegradable pads, so that thousands of kilos of waste can be saved from being collected in landfills.
Through video presentations and tools, the speaker explained the reproduction system to the students. Chemicals and plastics used in pads increase the risk of cervical cancer, she said.
