The spate of deaths of youngsters by cardiac arrest continues to spook Gujarat. After many such deaths in recent months, the latest is the death of a 13-year-old boy from the state, who was currently staying in Mumbai.
The 13-year-old Jamnagar boy, reportedly died of a cardiac arrest while doing yoga on Tuesday morning. The Class 8 student identified as Om Ganthecha studied till class 7 in Jamnagar and had recently shifted to Mumbai for better education.
The Ganthecha family, including his father, mother and elder sister, received the news on Tuesday morning that Om had a sudden cardiac arrest while he was doing yoga and that he was no more.
His father Sachin Ganthecha runs a gift shop in Jamnagar. Om’s body was brought to Jamnagar and the funeral procession was carried out at 1 pm amid heart wrenching scenes of emotional outpourings.
In another case, Kashish Pipaliya, an 18-year-old first-year college student and resident of Jam Kandorna, suffered from severe chest pain and was rushed to a hospital, where she later died due to cardiac arrest.
She was a student of Jetpur-based SPKM Chhatralaya. A 36-year-old man from Jamnagar also passed away due to a heart attack on Tuesday. Shobhram Davar used to stay in Jamnagar’s Dhrol and worked as a farm labourer. Shobhram suffered a severe cardiac arrest and was taken to Dhrol government hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
