An individual from Kerala was sentenced to a total of 135 years in prison on Monday for repeatedly raping and impregnating his minor cousin two years prior.
According to public defender Raghu K, Haripad fast track special court Judge Saji Kumar sentenced the 24-year-old guy to a total of 135 years in prison under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, IPC, Information Technology Act, and Juvenile Justice Act.
The prosecutor stated that the offender will spend 20 years in prison because the sentences must be completed concurrently and the longest was 20 years.
The prosecution said the court also ordered the District Legal Services Authority to pay a compensation of Rs 4 lakh to the survivor, who was 15 at the time of the occurrence, and levied a penalty of Rs 5.1 lakh on the convict.
The youth, according to the prosecution, used to drive the victim to school and back home to her maternal grandmother since he was the son of the victim’s father’s elder brother’s son.
