Nikhil Kamath, the Co-Founder & CFO of Zerodha, India’s largest online brokerage firm, delivered a speech on the first day of the Vibrant Gujarat Summit 2024, where he lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi for creating a conducive ecosystem for entrepreneurship in the country. He also shared his insights on how entrepreneurship has transformed in the past decade, citing examples of various success stories from different walks of life.
The Vibrant Gujarat Summit 2024, which is being held from January 10 to 12 in Gujarat, is a biennial event that showcases the state’s potential as a destination for investment and innovation. The theme of this year’s summit is ‘Gateway to the Future’. Nikhil Kamath was among the prominent speakers from the Indian industry who addressed the gathering, along with Reliance Industries Chairman and Managing Director Mukesh Ambani, Adani Group Chair Gautam Adani, and Tata Sons’ Chairman N Chandrasekaran.
In his speech, Nikhil Kamath said that the last 10 years have been incredible for entrepreneurship in India, and that he was not the only exception, but one of the many who have benefited from the startup ecosystem of India. He said that entrepreneurship has become more accessible and aspirational for everyone, from a housewife inspired by ‘Shark Tank’ to a shoe salesman using Flipkart to grow his business. He attributed this change to the supportive environment created by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, whom he thanked for enabling the youth of India to thrive. He said that Modi ji was the one man in the audience who had facilitated the stable ecosystem for people like him.
