14 Gujarat Schools, Including 4 in Ahmedabad, Disaffiliated by CBSE

| Updated: March 5, 2025 18:29

A total of 14 Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) schools in Gujarat, including four in Ahmedabad, have been recently disaffiliated, according to a list posted on the School Affiliation Re-engineered Automation System (SARAS) 5.0 website. Experts say that disaffiliation means these schools will not be allowed to admit new students, though existing batches are unlikely to be impacted.

The disaffiliated schools in Ahmedabad are DLA Academy of Little People, The New Tulip International School, Nirman High School, and Delhi Public School in Hirpur. Other 10 schools affected include two Kendriya Vidyalayas – one each in Surat and NTPC Bharuch – along with Sarojben Memorial International School, Rajdeep English School, and Sunflower School in Jamnagar, Shri BM Kyada School and Aarya-Veer International School in Rajkot, Global Indian International School in Surat, Bhaskardyusti Vidyalaya in Valsad, and Calorx Public School in Amreli. The CBSE has cited disaffiliation for specific sections such as secondary or senior secondary in all these institutions.

Experts have described this as the highest number of disaffiliations in Gujarat to date. The primary reason behind these actions is non-compliance with CBSE’s rules and regulations, identified during inspections.

It is notable that two schools in Ahmedabad – New Tulip International School and Nirman High School – were among the 29 schools found violating CBSE affiliation bylaws in December 2024, specifically for creating “non-attending enrolments.” These schools were also under investigation for allegedly running “dummy classes.”

The disaffiliation news has sent shockwaves among parents and students, who are now checking the affiliation status of their respective schools. Educationalists have clarified that the disaffiliation primarily impacts secondary and senior secondary sections. However, if schools address the issues raised by CBSE, they may regain affiliation after following the proper procedure.

A senior official from the CBSE Ajmer region told a leading national newspaper that the disaffiliation list includes 463 schools nationwide. The CBSE website is expected to be updated soon with the specific reasons for each disaffiliation, although these details were not available as of this article going live.
