DGP CID TS Bisht Retires From Service

| Updated: July 1, 2022 12:13

Director general of police (DGP), Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Crime and Railways, TS Bisht retired from the service on Thursday. State Police Chief DGP Ashish Bhatia will take over Bisht’s post. However, there has been some talk over why DGP Anil Pratham, who is in charge of issues related to women and human trafficking was not chosen for the post.

DGP CID TS Bisht is known for his excellent policing while using the latest technology and analyzing human behavior. He was also in the run to become police chief but he could not.

Bisht, a 1985 batch IPS officer, had served across the state before being appointed as the head of CID (Crime and Railways) in August 2020. He also worked as DCP Zone-1 in Ahmedabad. The CID crime was recently tasked with investigating the deaths of four members of a family from Dingucha village in Kalol, who died while traveling from Canada to the US. However, the investigation has not been completed.

An order was issued on Friday by the state Home Department stating that Bisht is allowed to retire from IPS on reaching the retirement age after office hours from June 30, 2022. Bisht was bid farewell, sources sai

At the same time, another order was issued by the Home Department of the state stating that the charge of the vacant post of CID (Crime and Railways) has been handed over to DGP Ashish Bhatia. It is pertinent to note that DGP Bhatia is currently on an extension of eight months from the date of his retirement on May 31.
