Ladakh’s Highest Civilian Award Bestowed to Dalai Lama

Tibetan spiritual leader, Dalai Lama was acclaimed with the the highest civilian honor of Ladakh,  ‘dPal rNgam Duston’ for his great contribution to humanity, especially towards the union territory, a source shared on Saturday. 

The sixth award was conferred by Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Leh which celebrated the ‘dPal rNgam Duston’ with great fervour on the occasion of its foundation day at Sindhu Ghat on Friday.

The spiritual leader who is also an octogenarian, has been on the visit to the union territory since July 15. He received the gesture in good faith and talked about the importance of maintaining communal harmony in the region. 

“Ladakh and Tibet are connected by the mighty Indus River along with religious and cultural similarities,” he further said. He also talked about how the changing climatic condition is a grave concern and everyone must be environmentally aware in their actions. 

MP Jamyang Tsering Namgyal said Ladakh is honored to have the opportunity to gift its highest award to the 14th Dalai Lama on this promising occasion. He also expressed his thanks to the LAHDC headed by Tashi Gyalson for the respect given to the Dalai Lama. He said it was a true reflection of the love, respect and dedication that people had towards the Dalai Lama. 

Advisor Umang Narula said, the ‘dPal rNgam Duston’ is for the celebration of the commendable contribution and achievement of the heroes of Ladakh and seeks to establish a sense of pride in the younger generation.
