89 Indian Pilgrims Travel To Pakistan To Observe Maha Shivaratri

| Updated: December 21, 2022 12:05

Tuesday marked the arrival of approximately 89 Hindu pilgrims from India to the Punjab Province’s Katas Raj Temple to observe Maha Shivaratri.

“Some 89 Hindu pilgrims arrived here from India via Wagah border on Tuesday. Evacuee Trust Property Board senior officers Rana Shahid and Fraz Abbas received them at the border,” Amir Hashmi, spokesperson for ETPB, said.

According to Hashmi, the Hindu pilgrims would spend a day in Lahore before travelling 300 kilometres away to Chakwal to attend their religious celebration at Katas Raj. He stated that on Thursday, “Maha Shivaratri,” the main celebration, will take place there. In this regard, he noted, foolproof security precautions have been implemented.

Hindu pilgrims are loved in Pakistan, according to the group’s leader Sanjiv Kumar, who also expressed hope that the ETPB is caring for their sacred sites.

A group of Hindu temples connected by walkways makes up the Shri Katas Raj Temples, also known as Qila Katas. Hindus revere the hallowed Katas Pond, which is surrounded by the temple complex. The complex is situated in the Punjab province of Pakistan’s Potohar Plateau region.
