Karnataka Elections: Modi Likely To Hold 22 Rallies In 6 Days

| Updated: April 27, 2023 18:44

This weekend, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the BJP campaign in Karnataka, a key battleground state. The massive roadshow in Bengaluru on Saturday will be the main event of PM Modi’s hectic campaign schedule.

However, it’s anticipated that PM Modi will hold up to 22 rallies across the state over the course of the next two weeks.

While the final schedule is being developed, sources have said that the biggest star campaigner for the BJP will hold close to 22 rallies during his six-day visit for the Assembly elections. PM Modi will hold more than three rallies during each visit.

“BJP is extremely confident of doing well in the Karnataka election but the moment Prime Minister Narendra Modi hits battleground. It is a different game altogether. There is no bigger momentum for our party campaign to peak,” a senior official said.

According to sources, Modi is scheduled to address rallies in Humnabad, Vijayapura, Kudachi, and Bengaluru North on April 29. PM Modi will hold rallies in Kolar, Channapattna, and Belur the following day, April 30.

Next week, the prime minister will pay a two-day visit to the state. He has public events planned for May 2 in Chitradurga, Vijayanagara, Sindhanur, and Kalaburgi. On May 3, there will be public gatherings in Moodabidri, Karwar, and Kittur.

PM Modi will reportedly visit Chittapur, Nanjangud, Tumakuru Rural, and Bengaluru South on May 6. PM Modi will speak at four rallies on May 7, the day before the campaign comes to an end. These will be in Bengaluru Central, Haveri, Shivamogga Rural, and Badami.

The saffron party, which is hoping to win in the southern state once more, will be promoting the double engine growth government—state and centre—as it campaigns for votes in the Assembly elections. Karnataka has been one of the oldest organisations for the BJP.

The BJP has named central minister Dharmendra Pradhan as its election in-charge ahead of the state elections. Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya and TN BJP chief Annamalai are the co-in charges.

The campaign committee for the party is being led by CM Basvaraj Bommai. Shobha Karandlaje, a union minister, is presiding over the meeting of the election management committee.

The schedule for the Karnataka elections was announced by the Election Commission of India on March 29. Election day is set for May 10, and the results will be announced on May 13 for the 224-seat Assembly.
