Schools in Gujarat were thrown into a state of alarm on Monday after multiple institutions in Ahmedabad and Vadodara received bomb threat emails, prompting immediate evacuations and heightened police deployment.
According to media reports, the threats triggered panic among students, parents, and school authorities, as security agencies rushed in to conduct intensive checks across campuses.
According to officials, several schools in Ahmedabad reported receiving threatening messages through email, forcing the city police to deploy additional personnel.
The Ahmedabad District Education Officer has been quoted in the media saying that emails carried disturbing content, including references to “turning India into Khalistan.” Investigators noted that at least one of the threat messages was written in Punjabi and warned of an impending blast.
With the safety of children at stake, police teams, including the crime branch, were stationed outside schools while bomb disposal squads and sniffer dogs were brought in for inspection. Authorities said precautionary evacuations were carried out quickly to avoid any untoward incident.
Threats Reported In Ahmedabad And Vadodara
As the situation unfolded, officials confirmed that seven schools in Ahmedabad and six in Vadodara had received similar emails.
Some of the Ahmedabad schools that acknowledged the threats included Asia School in Vastrapur, A-One School in Satellite, DAV International School in Makarba, and Ankur International School. In Vadodara, institutions such as Urmi School, D R Amin School, and Nalanda School were among those targeted.
While no suspicious object was found during searches, the threats led to widespread fear, with many parents rushing to schools to bring their children home. Authorities placed other educational institutions in both cities on alert as investigations continued.
Security Agencies On High Alert
The Gujarat Police responded swiftly, tightening security and launching verification drives across all affected locations. Senior officers said cyber experts were also being involved to trace the origin of the anonymous emails.
Officials stressed that such threats, even when later found to be hoaxes, are treated with utmost seriousness because of the potential risk to public safety and the disruption caused to school environments.
Similar Pattern Seen In Delhi And Punjab
The Gujarat incidents come close on the heels of similar bomb threat emails reported in other parts of the country last week.
In Delhi, seven schools had received provocative emails containing references to Khalistan and even mentioning the possibility of an attack inside Parliament. Police investigations later declared those threats to be hoaxes.
The schools targeted in the national capital included Delhi Tamil Education Association on Pusa Road, Kendriya Vidyalaya in Gole Market, Happy Public School in Daryaganj, Rabea Public School in Ballimaran, CL Bhalla DAV School in Jhandewalan, Sardar Patel Vidyalaya in Lodhi Estate, and the British School in Chanakyapuri.
Similarly, 16 schools in Mohali, Punjab, were threatened through email, triggering panic and massive search operations involving nearly 300 police personnel. Nothing suspicious was found, and Punjab Police said an FIR would be filed, with the Cyber Cell tasked to trace the source.
Court In Uttar Pradesh Also Targeted
The wave of threat emails was not limited to schools. Later on Monday, the District Court in Amroha, Uttar Pradesh, also received an anonymous bomb threat.
The email, sent to the court’s official address, claimed that an explosive device would be detonated inside the premises at around 12.15 pm. After the District Judge was informed, police and district authorities were alerted immediately.
Security was tightened without delay, and the court complex was evacuated. Lawyers, staff members, and visitors were moved to safer areas while police teams conducted thorough searches.
Investigation Underway
Authorities across states are now working to determine whether these incidents are connected or part of a coordinated attempt to spread fear through hoax threats. Cyber investigation teams are focusing on tracking the email origins, which are often routed through anonymous servers.
Officials have reiterated that strict action will be taken against those responsible, as such threats not only disrupt essential institutions but also create unnecessary panic among citizens.
For now, schools and public buildings in Gujarat and elsewhere remain on alert, with police maintaining heightened surveillance until the situation is fully assessed.
