The summer season, which is known for bringing heat and dryness to the atmosphere, has turned into scorching heat this year, with temperatures rising day by day. Amid this, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has also issued a statement saying that the temperature may cross 44°C.
As per reports, the state experienced severe heat on Friday, with temperatures reaching an average of 43°C in several districts of Gujarat. The IMD suggested that these conditions may continue, and the heatwave may hit other districts as well from Sunday onward.
Regions like Saurashtra and Kutch are already facing heatwave conditions this week, while Ahmedabad city is also expected to experience this heat from Saturday. Temperatures are likely to rise further in the coming days, and the heatwave is predicted to hit Ahmedabad on Monday.
The maximum temperature in the city has already reached 43°C, whereas the minimum temperature has been recorded at 27.7°C.
The IMD also stated that Gujarat, along with scorching heat, is currently experiencing strong westerly and northwesterly wind patterns, which may ultimately push temperatures even higher.
At present, among the districts of Gujarat, Surendranagar recorded the highest temperature at 44°C, followed by Ahmedabad at 43.1°C, Kandla at 43°C, and Rajkot and Amreli at 42.7°C. The IMD suggested that the average temperature in other districts will remain around 40°C.
