A Day To AMUL’s Dairy and Chocolate Plant

| Updated: April 10, 2023 10:50

Anand Milk Union Limited (AMUL) is one of the largest milk companies in India. It controls more than 30% of the liquid milk market. To learn more about this giant company while also having fun, my friends and I decided to travel to Anand, Amul’s hometown.

It was April 2, just a normal Sunday, but a lot more exciting than usual. My friends and I boarded the BRTS and went to the railway station, and the journey began. We booked the Intercity Express to Anand from Ahmedabad, and it was an hour’s journey, but we enjoyed it as we played UNO cards throughout the whole journey.

We arrived at Anand at about 11:40 in the morning, and we had lunch in a nearby South Indian restaurant at about 12 in the afternoon. At around 12:45, we departed for the chocolate plant. It is also known as the Tribhuvandas factory plant. We entered the plant, and it was beautiful at first glance.

They showed us the whole plant, and the best part about it was the fruity smell of cocoa, and there were many facts written beside each and every processing unit, like how consuming 40 grams of dark chocolate daily can reduce hypertension and improve blood sugar too. But on a serious note, the way they produce the chocolate, store it and make the final product is very interesting to watch.

From there, we went to the next place, which was the milk plant. Now is where the fun part begins. We were shown the whole process of pasteurisation and milk processing, and the icing on the cake was the butter plant. The way that the butter was made and packed made my mouth water.

After that, we had some snacks and took a bus from the bus depot to CTM, and from there, we took a BRTS bus back home. Thus, our journey ended. But at the end of the day, it was a magnificent and thrilling experience for me.
