The Gujarat government has announced the launch of a dedicated 24/7 helpline aimed at resolving queries and addressing complaints related to the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY). This comes followed by the incident in which two patients died following angioplasty procedures performed at Khyati Multispeciality Hospital under the PM-Jay scheme and various other fraudulent activities.
This initiative will allow citizens to get information about various facilities available for beneficiaries of the PM-JAY scheme, including details about the Ayushman cards and the services offered under the scheme.
State Health Minister Rushikesh Patel confirmed that the helpline number 07966440104 is now operational, providing an avenue for citizens to register complaints, seek information and track the status of their complaints.
This move is expected to further streamline the process of complaint resolution and improve the overall experience for PM-JAY beneficiaries.
The helpline will record patient complaints via phone calls. After registering a complaint, an SMS will be sent to the complainant’s registered number, providing them with a unique registration number to track the progress of their complaint.
To ensure swift resolution, the state government has established a clear system for coordinating with relevant authorities. Upon receiving complaints, necessary details will be forwarded to the Chief District Health Officer (CDHO), the Medical Officer of Health, insurance companies, and the card approval agency.
The complaint resolution process will involve the collection and verification of required documents, and complainants will be given a specified timeframe within which to submit supporting documents for verification.
As of now, Gujarat has over 2.67 crore Ayushman cardholders. Under the Ayushman Bharat scheme, beneficiaries are entitled to cashless treatment up to Rs 10 lakh at registered hospitals, ensuring access to quality healthcare for the economically disadvantaged.
