The National Highspeed Rail Corporation Ltd (NHRCL) has announced that land acquisition for the Ahmedabad-Mumbai Bullet Train project is almost complete, with only 1.09% of land acquisition pending in Gujarat.

According to NHRCL data, the land acquisition process for the project has been ongoing for five years, with 99.75% of land acquisition completed in Maharashtra and 98.91% in Gujarat. The remaining 10.53 hectares of land are still pending acquisition in Gujarat, with 5.47 hectares in Vadodara, 4.89 hectares in Surat, 0.02 hectares in Ahmedabad, and 0.05 hectares in Bharuch yet to be acquired.

The land acquisition process in Maharashtra had faced delays during the Shiv Sena (Uddhav) – Congress – NCP coalition government. However, the process picked up pace under the Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde) – BJP government.

In Gujarat, the state government has paid Rs. 6104 crore for the concession of 6248 plots, with land acquisition completed in Kheda, Anand, Navsari, and Valsad. The bullet train will pass through eight districts of the state.
