Air India May Hire GoFirst Crew

| Updated: May 4, 2023 15:47

Air India may hire GoFirst cabin and cockpit crew as part of its mega expansion plans. This comes after the news of Go First going into bankruptcy, leaving many employees uncertain about their future.

Air India has recently placed a significant order for approximately 500 aircraft, which will require a significant increase in crew members. In response, Air India has advertised for over 1,000 pilots with a tagline encouraging potential employees to “fly into the future with Air India.”

The advertisement boasts opportunities for accelerated growth across Air India’s A320, B777, B787, and B737 fleets for captains, first officers, and trainers.

Last month, Air India had to reduce its flights, particularly to the Middle East, due to a shortage of crew members. Go First currently has around 50 aircraft in its fleet, with 50% grounded due to engine outages, but approximately 800 cockpit crew and 2,000 cabin crew members.

If Air India does hire from Go First, it could be a positive outcome for many of the airline’s employees who are currently facing uncertain futures. For Air India, this could be an opportunity to acquire experienced personnel to support its ambitious expansion plans.
