Amarinder Singh threatens to quit Congress if he was not made state chief

A major upheaval is taking place in Punjab Congress politics. Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh has threatened to resign Congress if he is removed from the Chief Ministerial position. Meanwhile, Congress asks Caption to step down from CM’s position gracefully.  

A meeting of the MLA’s to be held in the evening has been ordered to select a new leader. After learning this, the captain now spoke to senior Congress leader Kamal Nath and MP Manish Tiwari. However, sources said the captain has been asked to end the whole controversy. The captain has also threatened to quit the party if he is removed from the post of CM. He has also asked to convey this message to the party high command. After a letter from 40 unhappy MLAs with the Captain, the Congress High Command has taken a big decision and called a meeting of the MLAs at Punjab Congress Bhavan in Chandigarh at 5 pm today.

Caption’s Resentment 

A day after the high command hurriedly called a CLP meeting, Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh has expressed his ‘resentment’ at the ‘humiliation’ meted out to him by the senior party leadership. The party has convened an urgent meeting of its legislators in the state in Chandigarh today at 5pm.  Amarinder Singh is expected to tender his resignation after the meeting of MLA’s.

State Congress in-charge Harish Rawat said the decision has been taken after consideration of requests from a large number of MLAs. Further, Amarinder Singh has said he won’t be able to continue as the Punjab CM if he is humiliated like this. it is enticing to wait for further developments in the politics of the Punjab Congress.
