| Updated: June 2, 2022 19:07

A 22-year-old Bangladeshi woman named Krishna Mandal swam across the border to unite and marry her boyfriend, Abhik Mandal who lives in India. They both met on Facebook and love blossomed, since none of them had passports they couldn’t travel to either country legally.

Bangladeshi woman crossed the wild forest of Sundarbans with a high tiger population, swam across the Malta river for an hour to enter the country, and reached Kaikhali village of West Bengal’s south 24 Parganas district, where she met her boyfriend. Both of them then drove to Kolkata, where they got married in Kalighat temple.

Despite her efforts and bravery, on Monday she got arrested by Narendrapur police, as the rumors started to go around of a woman who swam the ocean to meet her beloved. According to the sources, she’ll be handed over to the Bangladesh High Commission.
