Firing was reported outside the house of Salman Khan’s posh Galaxy Apartments in Bandra (Mumbai) in the wee hours of Sunday.
Two unidentified bike-borne men reportedly fired in the air outside the actor’s house, though nobody was injured in the incident.
The incident occurred around 4:51 am when two men fired three rounds and another four rounds just outside the apartment building before fleeing the spot.
Security has been tightened outside Salman Khan’s house following the incident.
The crime branch, local police and forensic teams visited the spot for an investigation. They recovered the casing of the bullets fired.
The incident gains significance for the fact that jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and wanted gangster Goldie Brar have announced several times to kill Salman Khan. According to sources, Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldie Brar had sent their shooters to Mumbai to kill the actor.
In 2018, Lawrence Bishnoi’s aide Sampat Nehra did a recce of Salman Khan’s house. However, Haryana Police arrested Sampat Nehra before he could carry out the attack. During questioning, he had revealed the entire plan of attacking Khan.
Mumbai Police have already deployed teams of cops working in three shifts outside Salman Khan’s house. The actor has been provided with weapons by trained security personnel since the threats came to light. He has also been provided with a personal weapon licence and he can carry a personal weapon for his safety.
The Mumbai Police were alerted after Salman received an e-mail death threat allegedly from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang in March last year.
In November, police undertook a security review of the 59-year-old star after an indirect threat was issued to him on Facebook by an account claiming to be Lawrence Bishnoi. The said Facebook account even had the gangster’s photo as a display picture.
Lawrence Bishnoi is currently behind bars in a drug smuggling case investigated by the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
In response to the incident outside Salman Khan’s residence, Anand Dubey, head of the Siv Sena (UBT) said, “Whether it is Salman Khan or any common man, no one is feeling safe in Mumbai and Maharashtra.”
NCP-SCP leader Supriya Sule also said on Sunday, “It’s extraordinarily unfortunate as the area where Salman Khan lives is a popular area and his family is clearly under pressure… It’s a complete failure of the Home Ministry.
