Senior BJP leader Anurag Thakur on Monday presented a “chargesheet” against Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal, alleging that he has transformed Delhi into a “laboratory of corruption” through numerous “scandals”.
The BJP’s state unit established a “chargesheet committee” in advance of the Delhi Assembly elections and it has so far released comprehensive papers outlining the alleged shortcomings of the ruling AAP MLAs.
“What sort of party is this that rose to power on the promise of delivering a corruption-free government but has been implicated in eight to nine scandals involving the liquor policy, Delhi Jal Board, DTC and Waqf Board?” Thakur alleged.
With the slogan “Ghotale Pe Ghotala, Kejriwal Ne Banaya Delhi Ko Bhrashtachar Ki Prayogshala” (Kejriwal turned Delhi a corrupt laboratory with scams), Thakur declared that the BJP will bring down the AAP in Delhi.
In February next year, elections for the 70-member Delhi Assembly are set.
In addition, the former Union minister accused Kejriwal and the AAP of failing to build new hospitals and clinics in Mohalla and of not using the Centre’s finances to improve the city’s healthcare system.
He said that despite the AAP administration spending crores of rupees on advertising, the Connaught Place smog tower, which was meant to reduce air pollution, was still unusable.
Regarding the BJP leader’s accusations, the AAP did not immediately respond.
