Dr. Hemang Joshi, BJP MP from Vadodara, has demanded Chandola Lake like demolition drive in the cultural capital of the state.
Even as the drive was on at the Chandola Lake on Tuesday to bring down over 2,000 structures of illegal Bangladeshi immigrants, Dr. Joshi took to X and said, “Justice Served. Vadodara too has some safe havens and Lallas in mercy of Opposition Party and Anti Nationals. It’s time to act against them”. He tagged Vadodara Municipal Corporation in his post.
In the wee hours of Tuesday, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation began the operation and by evening over 2,000 structures were flatted. It is considered the biggest demolition operation of Ahmedabad and there was unprecedented police bandobast.
The municipal corporation also bulldozed the farm house of one Mahmud Pathan alias Lalla Bihari. He and his son were arrested. Bihari is believed to have helped people forge fake identity proofs.
Sources said that Dr. Joshi has submitted details of the encroachment in Vadodara to the police and the local civic body.
The demolition at Chandola, also known as “Mini Bangladesh”, is seen as an aftermath of Pahalgam attack in which 26 tourists lost lives.
There were a few comments on Dr. Joshi’s post. One of the persons pointed out that there is illegal scrap yard near Ajabdi Mill. Another person pointed out towards alleged illegal encorachment on the stretch between Mandvi and Panigate in Vadodara.
