The Congress appointed Rajasthan Health Minister Raghu Sharma as In charge of Gujarat, Daman Diu, and Dadra and Nagar Haveli. The party was without In charge after the demise of Rajeev Satav.
Sharma, who is a minister in Ashok Gehlot cabinet in Rajasthan, is close to the Chief Minister and was called last month for a meeting with Rahul Gandhi. Gujarat goes to polls next year and the Congress has one year to prepare particularly after a recent rout in the local body elections. The appointment paves way for a reshuffle in Rajasthan which is pending.
Born on July 26, 1958 in Ajmer, Sharma current Member of Parliament from Ajmer constituency is elected from the by-election, 2018 in Indian National Congress candidate. He is a two-time MLA from Kekri constituency.
