DefExpo 2022 To Begin From March 10 In Gandhinagar

The Ministry of Defence is all set to host the 12th edition of the international defence exhibition Def-Expo 2022 in Gandhinagar, Gujarat from March 10-14, 2022.

This mega defence international exhibition will focus on land, air, naval, internal homeland security and electronic systems. This will be the first time that Gujarat will host a grand defence related event.

This year’s theme will be “India-The Emerging Defence Manufacturing Hub”, it will also feature a Bandhan ceremony where several MoUs are expected to be signed. This year the expo has been extended for one more day, while March 10 and 11 will be business days, the exhibition will be open to the public on March 12 and 13.

DefExpo-2022 aims to build upon the vision to achieve ‘Aatmanirbharta’ in defence and reach USD five billion defence exports target by 2024 along with making India n a major destination of land, naval, air & homeland security systems and defence engineering.

During this four-day event, all the defence manufacturers will exhibit their work at the Helipad Exhibition Centre at Gandhinagar.The inaugural ceremony will be held on March 10 at Mahatma Mandir. Additionally, land, naval, air and homeland security systems and Public Sector Undertakings will be displayed at the Sabarmati riverfront in Ahmedabad as part of the event.

A total of 842 exhibitors have already registered for this grand Expo. Other 1000 exhibitors from 70 vivid nations are expected to follow. This year’s Expo will be held in a hybrid model, where attendees can join through a virtual platform and participate in seminars B2B meetings and view products.

Lucknow hosted the first edition of this conclave involving African countries during the last DefExpo in 2020, 154 delegates from 14 African countries, including defence ministers participated in that conclave.
This year’s second edition will be held on an even larger scale and is expected to strengthen the defence cooperation between India and African nations.

Defence Expo2022 will explore the collaborations and joint ventures between India and the African Nations in defence equipment, software, digital defence, provisioning of defence equipment,spares, maintenance,joint ventures in defence equipment, software, digital defence, research and development

Big foreign defence manufacturers like Rafael Advanced Defence Systems, Israel Aerospace Industries Ltd, Northop Grumman Corporation, Boeing, Lockheed Martin and Airbus have already taken up space at the helipad grounds for their respective exhibits.

DRDO, IAF, Brahmos Aerospace and Navy will be showcasing their exhibits.

Indian manufacturers in the defence sector like Larsen & Toubro Ltd, Adani Defence System and Technologies Ltd, Mahindra Defence Systems Ltd, Ashok Leyland Ltd, Kalyani Group, Armoured Vehicles Nigam Ltd, Cochin Shipyard, Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Ltd, Tata Advanced Systems Ltd are among those who will display their products at the exhibition that will have an India pavilion and a Gujarat pavilion.
