Eighteen Dead In Rain Related Incidents, Orange Alert In Different Parts Of Gujarat

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in Bharuch, Surat, Dangs, Navsari, Valsad, Tapi, Daman, Dadra & Nagar Haveli, Porbandar, Junagadh, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Gir Somnath, and Diu on Thursday and issued an orange alert for the regions.

According to emerging details, 18 people have lost lives in rain related incidents in the last two days in the state.

Light thunderstorm with lightning and surface wind 30-40 kilometre per hour accompanied with light to moderate rain is predicted in Banaskantha, Patan, Mehsana, Sabarkantha, Gandhinagar, Aravalli, Kheda, Ahmedabad, Anand, Panchmahal, Dahod, Vadodara, Mahisagar, and other districts on Thursday.

On Wednesday, Saurashtra including Surendranagar, Botad, Jamnagar and Bhavnagar, experienced heavy rainfall.

Heavy rainfall was reported in Banaskantha, Anand and Kutch on Wednesday.

Twelve teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have been deployed across various districts, while the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams have been stationed in 20 districts.

On Tuesday, rainfall was recorded in 208 talukas. The highest rainfall was recorded in Barwala of Botad district, which received 7.5 inches of rain. In Sayla of Surendranagar district, 6.5 inches of rainfall was recorded, including 4 inches between 12 noon and 2 pm.
