A sexual assault case has been registered in Gandhinagar against the son of a private school principal following allegations involving a Class 10 student who was staying in the school’s hostel, police said.
The case has been filed at the Sector-21 Police Station under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
According to the complaint, the student, who comes from an economically weaker family, was living in the hostel while preparing for his Class 10 board examinations. During this period, the accused allegedly contacted the student several times and gradually gained his trust before allegedly subjecting him to inappropriate physical contact.
The complaint further states that the student was later taken to the accused’s room, where several incidents of inappropriate behaviour allegedly took place against the student’s wishes.
Despite the difficulties he was facing, the student continued his studies and appeared for the board examinations. After completing his exams, he returned to his home.
The family has alleged that even after the student left the hostel, the accused continued contacting him and putting pressure on him.
According to the complaint, the situation had a serious impact on the student’s mental well-being and studies. Family members reportedly noticed changes in his behaviour and became concerned. After speaking with him, they learned about the alleged incidents.
The family then approached the police, following which an FIR was registered. Police said the case has been registered based on the complaint and that further investigation is currently underway.
