Gangster Bishnoi Shifted Out Of Gujarat Jail

| Updated: May 25, 2023 15:23

Gangster Lawrence Bishnoi was transferred to Delhi early on Thursday from Gujarat and placed in the Mandoli prison in Delhi. An official stated that Bishoi was transferred to the Mandoli jail for security purposes.

Following the murder of Tillu Tajpuria in Tihar Jail earlier this month, officials said, the jail administration decided to keep Bishnoi in a different facility to avoid any chance of a gang war.

Tajpuriya, a defendant in the Rohini court shooting case in Delhi, was stabbed to death on May 2 in Tihar prison by members of an opposing gang. Lawrence Bishnoi has been detained in jail cell number 15.

At around 12.30 am, the dreaded criminal was taken from Gujarat to the Delhi airport under heavy security. Bishnoi was taken into custody by the Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) last month in connection with a drug smuggling case. The Gujarat ATS was given 14 days of custody of Bishnoi by the magistrate’s court in Nalia, Kutch.

Gangster Bishnoi has previously been in the custody of the NIA and Punjab Police.

A suspected member of the Lawrence Bishnoi-Jitendra Gogi syndicate was detained by the Delhi Police Special Cell on Wednesday following an encounter in the nation’s capital. The person who was apprehended had fled after jumping bail in a case of attempted murder in Delhi.
