Gujarat: AAP Fails To Secure Place In functioning Advisory Committee

| Updated: February 19, 2023 09:02

After the BJP landslide victory in the Gujarat Assembly polls, the Aam Aadmi party failed to secure its place in the business advisory committee for the first budget session of Gujarat. The 10-member committee is set up by assembly speaker Shankar Chaudhary, including Amit Chavda, the only member from the opposition.

In the assembly elections held last year, the BJP won in 156 assembly constituencies for the 182-member assembly. It was the largest majority given to any single party in the history of Gujarat. The Congress was reduced to 17 seats. Five AAP MLAs were elected to the House, while three independents and Samajwadi Party’s Kandhal Jadeja were elected.

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Finance Minister Kanu Desai, Health Minister Rishikesh Patel, Industries Minister Balwant Singh Rajput, Education Minister Dr Kuber Singh Dindor, Minister of State for Education Praful Pansheria, Agriculture Minister Raghav G Patel, Chief Magistrate Balkrishna Shukla and Amit Chavda are part of the advisory committee formed to conduct the functioning of the committee.

The budget session of the 15th Gujarat Assembly is scheduled to be held from February 23 to March 29.

Finance Minister Kanu Desai will present the first budget of the 15th Assembly on February 24. From February 23 to March 29, there are 27 working days. During the session, five days have been reserved for government bills and government business. Also, the first hour of every working day is for Question Hour.
