Gujarat Likely To Witness Increase In Rainfall From July 22: IMD

After a few days of break from heavy rain, Gujarat is expected to witness an increase in rainfall after July 22, according to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD).

The weather forecasting department has also predicted heavy rainfall in the regions of North and Central Gujarat and moderate rains in the regions of Aravalli, Banaskantha, Dahod, Mahisagar, Mehsana, Panchmahal, Patan and Sabarkantha today on July 19.

This year the monsoon in Gujarat on the one hand has created havoc and on the other hand, it has helped to increase the water levels of dams in the state. Due to good rains in the catchment area, the level of the Narmada dam has increased by 42 cm in the last 24 hours. Currently, due to good rains in Madhya Pradesh also, the water level will rise further. As of now, the water level in Narmada Dam is 120.22 meters. Good rains in the catchment area of ​​Narmada Dam and Madhya Pradesh, the water levels in Sardar Sarovar has also increased.

On the other hand, the gates of Tapi district’s Ukai Dam have been opened due to heavy rains in South Gujarat. Out of 22 gates of Ukai Dam, six gates have been opened up to four feet. At present, two lakh cusecs water has been received in the dam. The water level of the dam has reached 333.05 feet, resultantly around 60,000 cusecs of water has been released to maintain the rule-level water of the dam and the villages around Tapi river have also been alerted.

As a result of incessant rainfall, many districts of Gujarat has been affected. The Chief Minister, Bhupendra Patel is taking stock of the situation across the state and has instructed the officials to survey the losses caused due to the natural calamity and provide support to the people in the affected areas.
