Gujarat Logs 34 Deaths And 8,934 Cases In Last 24 Hours

Gujarat continued to add more Covid-19 fatalities with 34 people succumbing to infection on Wednesday as daily Covid infections also show a minimal spike with 8,934 cases. The state had 8,338 cases and 38 deaths yesterday.

Of the total Covid cases recorded in last 24 hours, Ahmedabad logged the highest number with 3,309 patients and 10 deaths. Besides Ahmedabad city, Vadodara (1,512), Rajkot (320), Gandhinagar (279), and Surat Corporation (265), recorded maximum cases.

The districts of Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara and Rajkot — including the city and rural jurisdictions — reported 4,639 new cases, accounting for 60% of the day’s new cases.

On fatalities front, Ahmedabad had 10 deaths, Vadodara had four, Rajkot had five, Gandhinagar had one, Surat had four, Bharuch had three, Mehsana, Navsari and Bhavnagar had one deaths each. Jamnagar recorded two Covid deaths on Wednesday.

Scenario Across India

India on Tuesday reported 1,61,386 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, bringing the total infection tally in the country to 4,16,30,885. The new Covid related cases were three per cent lower than yesterday’s 1.67 lakh daily spike.

The country also recorded a whopping 1,733 new deaths in 24 hours, as Kerala added a backlog of 1,063 fatalities to today’s count.

According to the Health Ministry, the Covid positivity rate dropped to 9.26 per cent from yesterday’s 11.6 per cent, while the weekly positivity rate was recorded at 14.15 per cent. India’s active caseload currently stands at 16.21 lakh cases.

In the ongoing Covid vaccination drive across the country, over 75 per cent of the country’s adult population is now fully vaccinated.
