How Can Murder Be Celebrated, Asks Cong Leader

| Updated: June 25, 2025 13:48

Opposition Congress in Gujarat has hit out at the Central Government’s move to celebrate 50 years of Emergency as “Constitution Murder Day”.

Gujarat Congress spokesperson Manhar Patel told Vibes of India that it is nothing but to hide one’s follies or poison the minds of the youth of the country.

Patel was referring to the move by the Ministry of Culture to commemorate 50 years of Emergency as “Constitution Murder Day”.

The Commissioner of Higher Education in Gujarat has written to government colleges and other universities to hold competitions like essays to celebrate the day on Wednesday (June 25, 2025).

Making a mention about the decision taken by the Ministry of Culture, the department has asked colleges and universities to upload relevant photographs on the portal MyGov. The Ministry said the day is being celebrated to remember the Constitutional values.

How can the word “murder” be celebrated, Patel asked. The Congress leader said that instead of strengthening the Constitution and protecting rights given under it, the government is trying to hide its own follies.

Isn’t anything that has been done in the last 11 years that can be celebrated, he questioned.

Patel alleged that for the last 11 years there has been an undeclared “Emergency” in the country.
