Today, India is celebrating its 75th anniversary of Independence Day. We all cherish the fact that India is the biggest democracy in the world but in the recent past we have seen a big misuse of the institutions and it looks like we are regressing in multiple senses. The challenges to democracy today are really huge, different governments are trying to suppress the dissent in their own way. It includes notorious use of government systems like UAPA, NSA, etc. There are several instances to prove the misgovernance like the controversial death of Stan Swamy. Things need to change now or it might get too late.
