In the advance prevention and detection of illnesses, Genomic diagnostic is very helpful. As everywhere, India too has witnessed a huge rise in genetic disorders,.

Genomic testing, also known as genetic testing, analyzes a person’s genome to identify gene or protein changes that may cause health problems. It can be used to diagnose a variety of conditions, including: Cancer, Kidney disorders, Neurological disorders, Rare genetic conditions, and Congenital deafness.

Acknowledging the issue, medical experts have felt the need to include Genomic diagnostic under Mediclaim and insurance policies. They feel that such inclusion will help the people for early detection and preventive healthcare. As of now, Genomic diagnostic is not attended by insurance companies.

The president of Association of Healthcare Providers India (AHPD) Gujarat Chapter exhorted the the insurance companies India to provide insurance cover for Genomic diagnostic under their policies.

In many western countries, health insurance plans covers the costs of genetic testing. Health insurance providers allow the person take the tests.

Genetic testing in India can cost between Rs 3,000 and Rs 60–70,000 per test. The cost depends on several factors, including the type of test, the purpose of the test, and sample size. An Ancestry DNA test in India can cost between Rs 13,000 and Rs 20,000, depending on the number of populations compared and the number of markers checked
