Indian women are not only leading in many sectors at home but also abroad. In the most recent news, Indian-American Janki Vishwamohan Sharma was appointed as the magistrate judge for the Seventh Judicial Circuit in Pennington County of South Dakota, US. Because of her attachment to Ramayana, she decided to take the oath with Ramcharit Manas.
Born into a family of priests, she began learning Ramayana at a young age and now she can recite the entire Ramcharit Manas. Her grandfather, Brahmarishi Pandit Jagmohan Maharaj was a dedicated Ramayan singer and so is her father, Pandit Vishvamohan Maharaj.
Janaki’s brother Tribhuvan Sharma says that when she took the oath, the entire family was elated and there was a festive atmosphere. “Janki used to belong to our family but now with this achievement, she has become the daughter of the whole country,” he said.
Interestingly, Janki also has a connection to Gujarat. Her family moved to Ahmedabad in 1995 from Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh. She completed her studies up to 12 grade here and in 2001 moved to the US.
