Statue of Unity in Kevadia, Gujarat, will be among the 75 iconic sites, where celebrations for the eighth edition of International Day of Yoga (IDY) will be held. Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya will lead the event on June 21 at this venue. Mandaviya has reiterated the importance of practicing Yoga regularly for maintaining a healthy and happy life. He said, “In order to avoid illness and receive happiness, it is very important to focus on wellness for which everyone should make yoga a part of their lives.”
This morning, Ministry of Health shared a tweet where it gave a glimpse of the preparations at the Statue of Unity. The ministry said, “Under the helm of Statue Of Unity, and on banks of sprawling Narmada River, International Yoga Day preparations are taking off with great pomp and cheer!”
The theme for this year’s celebration is ‘Yoga for Humanity’. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to lead a mass Yoga event at Mysuru Palace in Karnataka, which shall see participation from nearly 15,000 enthusiasts. Besides, 25 crore people around the globe, will also join several events all aimed at doing Yoga in unison for better health and wellness.
PM Modi this morning shared in a tweet said that he was leaving for Karnataka, where prior to leading Yoga celebrations in Mysuru, he will be inaugurating several developmental projects. He said, “Leaving for Karnataka, where I will be attending programmes in Bengaluru and Mysuru. The first programme will be held at the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru, where a Centre for Brain Research would be inaugurated. The foundation stone of the Bagchi-Parthasarathy Multispeciality Hospital will be laid.”
