| Updated: October 16, 2021 16:47

A mob allegedly attacked the ISKCON temple in Bangladesh’s Noakhali district, killing a temple member, as per the community.

The official Twitter handle of the Bangladesh ISKCON community said, “We are saddened to share the news of Parth Das, a member of ISKCON, who was brutally murdered by a mob of more than 200 people yesterday. His body was found in a pond next to the temple. We urge the government to take immediate action. “

In another tweet, it said, “ISKCON temple and devotees were violently attacked by mobs in Noakhali, Bangladesh today. The temple has suffered significant damage and the condition of the devotee is critical. We urge the Government of Bangladesh to ensure the safety of all. Give justice to Hindus and criminals. ”

The situation in Chandpur, Cox’s Bazar, Bandarban, Sylhet, Chittagong, and Ghazipur remained tense after the attacks and clashes, local media said. The Bangladesh government has assured the country’s Hindu community of improved security and said Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) troops have been deployed in 22 districts to maintain security.

Lieutenant Colonel Faizur Rahman, Director, BGB Operations, said BGB personnel have been deployed on the instructions of the concerned Deputy Commissioners and the Home Ministry.
