Manjrekar Raises Eyebrows over Chahal

Former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar expressed surprise over the selection of Yuzvendra Chahal for the upcoming ODI series against South Africa. While acknowledging Chahal’s skills and experience, Manjrekar believes him to be more suited for T20 cricket, suggesting that Ravi Bishnoi might be a better option for ODIs.

Manjrekar, however, welcomed the inclusion of other players like Deepak Chahar, Avesh Khan, Mukesh Kumar, Rajat Patidar, and Rinku Singh, stating his excitement about seeing India’s next generation of players. He also highlighted the challenge of facing a formidable South African team in a bilateral series.

Despite Manjrekar’s reservations, Chahal’s inclusion has sparked debate among cricket fans and pundits. Some believe his experience and wicket-taking ability will be valuable assets in the ODI format, while others share Manjrekar’s concerns about his suitability for the longer format.

The upcoming series against South Africa will be a crucial test for Chahal and the new-look Indian ODI team. Only time will tell if Manjrekar’s surprise will turn into admiration for Chahal’s performance.

St. George’s Park, located in Gqeberha, South Africa, is a cricket ground that has seen its fair share of T20I action.  More Details
