In a daring loot, three miscreants fired four rounds at courier men passing near the Hyatt hotel near Income Tax Circle on Monday evening and decamped with gold and silver ornaments as well as Rs 4.5 lakh cash they were carrying with them.
One of the courier men sustained injuries in the firing and has been hospitalised for treatment.
But in a swift operation, the Ahmedabad Police tracked them down from the Sardarnagar area in an hour’s time.
Police sources said two men from an angadia (courier) service, who left with four to five kg and Rs 4.5 lakh cash from their office in the city, were being tracked by the miscreants.
The courier men must have reached near the Hyatt hotel between Usmanpura and Income Tax Crossroads when the three riding a motorcycle drove close to them.
Before they could figure out what was happening, they opened four rounds of fire at them and injured one of them. They then decamped with the booty.
