My Work Is My Valentine: Tanuj Pugalia

| Updated: February 13, 2022 16:02

Ahmedabad-based businessman Tanuj Pugalia is not just the owner of Gallops Motors. In his 25 years in business, Pugali has established over 10 successful businesses, in sectors including automobile, FMCG, construction, packaging, finance and textiles. For the multi-faceted entrepreneur, work remains his first love, his Valentine.

But this was not always the case. Over decades, Pugalia’s first love has transitioned from sports, in his youth. Now, it’s all about kids and work. “For me true love means anything that puts everything else on the back burner,” Pugalia explained.

“Only those who love the process can create things. My Valentine’s Day plan is to work and make things happen – like every day,” said Pugalia.

Pugalia’s first business took off with a staff of four people. Today, his companies employ over 2,500. “My target is to employ 25,000 people. Employment also reflects the scale of the business and I want to have a bigger workforce,” Pugalia stated.

The flagship company Gallops Motors was started by Rajkumar Pugalia and Tanuj Pugalia. Today, the group caters vehicles from auto giants like Bajaj, Hyundai, Tata commercial vehicles and BMW to Ahmedabad citizens.

Pugalia has also reinvented himself multiple times over the years. “The young kids today are smarter, they have technology at their disposal. If you don’t innovate and reinvent yourself; you perish. I don’t think I have arrived yet; I’m still learning and that helps me up my game,” he said.

As for his mantra for success, Pugalia describes himself as always being “self-motivated”. “I have a sportsman’s attitude towards life. Unless you fight and make things happen; no one else will do it for you,” said Pugalia.
