Bringing ignonimity to the exam administrators one more time, an incident of paper leak is rumoured to have occured, this time, for medical entrance exam NEET-UG 2024. The coveted examination was conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on Sunday, 5th May at 4750 centers. Around 24 lakh students appeared in this examination.

According to reports, there was a ruckus during the NEET exam at an examination center in Maintown. In this incident, the NEET paper was taken outside the centre.

However, after the end of NEET UG exam 2024, NTA has issued a notice wherein they denied ” At Girls Higher Secondary Model School, Mandir, Mantown, Sawai Madhopur, there was an incident of incorrect distribution of question papers by the Center Superintendent. Despite efforts by invigilators to prevent it, some candidates left the examination center with question papers.”

Yuvraj Singh Jadeja, a leader who came into limelight by exposing several paper leaks in Gujarat, tagged the official X handle of NTA and wrote that the matter should be investigated.

NTA (National Testing Agency) clarified regarding this entire matter by saying, “The incident of release of NEET question paper during the examination has not affected the integrity of the examination conducted at other examination centres. Apart from this examination centre, the examination at all other centers started on time and was completed peacefully.”

“In order to provide a level playing field to all candidates, it has been decided to conduct re-examination on May 5 for about 120 affected students at the center where the incident took place,” NTA said.

In this case, according to India Today news group’s website The Lallantop, Patna Police had received confidential information that the exam question paper has been leaked. Later, many posts with such claims were also shared on social media.

According to a report by Shashi Bhushan Kumar associated with India Today, the police has registered an FIR on the basis of confidential information. After this the police raided many places. According to the police, FIR has been registered under IPC sections 407, 408 (criminal breach of trust) and 120B (criminal conspiracy).

Patna SSP Rajeev Mishra has told the media that an FIR has been lodged at Shastri Nagar police station. The SSP said that the police had received information about the paper leak only two-three hours before the commencement of the examination. Some people have been detained and interrogated. No one has been formally arrested yet. Further investigation is being done in the matter.

On the basis of suspicion, the police had identified some candidates. After the exam, he was picked up from the exam center itself and he was taken into custody and interrogated. At the same time, the police were also suspicious of some people who were not taking the exam. Such people were taken into custody even before the examination.

India Today’s report has quoted sources as saying that 5 people have been detained in this case. The name of one person taken into custody is Sikandar Yadav. It is suspected that he had appointed ‘solvers’ at many centers in Patna. Allegedly this solver gang already had the question papers and they were probably crammed into the students.
