Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, one of India’s fastest-growing airports, has strengthened its aviation infrastructure by operationalising its new Aviation Fuel Station (AFS).
Ahmedabad Open Access is the country’s largest standalone refueller-based Into-Plane operation, and the commissioning of this 8,000 KL facility will significantly strengthen overall operations. The enhanced storage capacity will improve refuelling reliability and is expected to attract more oil marketing companies to participate in jet fuel supply at the airport.
Designed to support rising flight operations, the facility prioritises safety, efficiency, reliability, and sustainability. Spread across nearly 27,000 square metres, the fuel farm has a storage capacity of 8,000 KL, with four storage tanks and a fleet of 17 refuellers for faster, seamless aircraft fuelling. To strengthen operations, two high-capacity refuellers are planned.
Advanced fuel filtration and quality-control systems ensure a clean, safe supply that meets international standards, while automated, RFID-enabled systems enable real-time monitoring and improved accuracy.
The facility also features robust fire safety and emergency response infrastructure aligned with global standards. This development marks a key milestone in building future-ready aviation infrastructure and will enhance operational efficiency for airlines while supporting the growth of air connectivity from Ahmedabad.
