One More Fake PMO Director Caught From Gujarat

| Updated: October 17, 2023 19:24

Maayank Tiwari is the second person after Kiran Patel who extorted money claiming he was a top official associated with the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO)

Gujarat has a bad history of fakes and impersonation. After the infamous Kiran Patel case, where an Ahmedabad resident was caught while he continued to pose as Additional Director (strategy and campaigns ) associated with the Prime Minister’s Office; one more fake PMO official has now been booked by the CBI. This man, identified as Maayank Tiwari from Vadodara, was using the PMO tag to “settle” a dispute.

Chirag Panchal, an undersecretary with the Prime Minister’s Office alerted the CBI about Maayank Tiwari who claimed to be a Director (Government Advisory) and was collecting crores of rupees either threatening people or using the PMO tag and “settling disputes”. The CBI booked Maayank Tiwari after they found him claiming to be a top PMO official and threatening Dr Agarwal, managing director of Agarwal eye hospital and forcing him to settle a “dispute” of over Rs 16.43 crores with Dr Pranay Singh of Vinayak Netralaya.

Agarwal Eye Hospital is a national chain with over 500 doctors associated with them. According to primary information, Dr Pranay Singh is also an opthamologist and according to unverified information was associated with Vinayak NEtralaya in Indore and used to visit Vadodara also for eye surgeries.

Interestingly, this is the second time in the last 100 days that Maayank Tiwari posed as a top PMO official.

Mayank Tiwari allegedly threatened the owners and trustees of Parul University and New Era School in Vadodara. In June, he threatened a trustee of a private university in Vadodara and was forcing admission in a prestigious school for two kids who he claimed were his friend’s children. Tiwari had claimed that his friend was with the Indian Airforce and had been transferred to Vadodara and hence wanted admission. At that time, he spelt his name as Mayank. In the latest case, he has added an “a” to his first name.

After the trustee smelt something foul, he alerted the police. Gujarat police had arrested Mayank Tiwari earlier this year in June. He reportedly was charging money for admissions and then faking as PMO officials used to threaten schools and college owners for admissions. He was also charged for threatening a Private University owner and extorting money and orchestrating the transfer of a student’s hostel room at a university in Waghodia in Vadodara.

Earlier, Kiran Patel who used to brag about his RSS connections was caught faking himself as a top official from the PMO. He also availed of Z security in Jammu and Kashmir and undertook “official visits”. His wife also made similar claims. The couple is currently in jail. There are 8 complaints against Kiran Patel and his wife for threatening people using PMO tag and extorting money.

‘Conman’ Kiran  and his wife were also alleged of several land frauds. In one case, he allegedly cheated a person of Rs 80 lacs as commission claiming he would settle their land dispute. He cheated a former BJP MLA also for land and construction activities.

Conman Kiran visited Jammu and Kashmir four times in six months claiming he was on official duty. He also availed top security and other government facilities.
