PM Modi In Mann Ki Baat: Proud To See Tribal Padma Awardees

| Updated: January 30, 2023 00:32

Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered the first Mann Ki Baat of 2023 on Sunday. The monthly radio show hosted by the Prime Minister is in its 97th episode.

Calling 2023 a year of ‘People’s Padma’, PM Modi said, “A sizable number of Padma awardees come from tribal communities and people associated with tribal society. Tribal life is different from city life, it also has its own challenges. Despite all this, tribal societies are always eager to preserve their traditions.”

“Many great personalities who have worked on tribal languages like Toto, Ho, Kui, Kuvi and Manda, have received Padma awards. It is a matter of pride for all of us. People working with Siddi, Jarwa and Onge tribes have also been awarded this time,” the prime minister said during ‘Mann Ki Baat’.

“This year the Padma awards are being heard even in those places which used to be Naxalite impacted. The Padma awards have been given to those who use their efforts to guide misguided youth in Naxalite-affected areas in the correct direction,” he continued.

“This month, around the 14th of January, the glitter of festivals abound across the country from north to south and from east to west,” Prime Minister Modi said in reference to the eventful month of January.

He also gave this year’s Republic Day events high acclaim. In his address, he discussed the significance of millets and declared 2023 to be the International Year for Millets. The names of individuals from various states who have devoted their professional careers to promoting millet-made cuisine were mentioned by PM Modi.

“Do you know what a milletpreneur is? The milletpreneurs of Odisha are in the news. In the tribal district of Sundargarh, there is a women’s self-help group that is connected to Odisha Millets Mission. They use millets to produce biscuits, cakes, and other foods,” PM Modi said.

He also praised India’s position in the Global Innovation Index, stating that it has improved and attained a respectable position. PM Modi urged people to be attentive and take precautions against Covid-19 in his final Mann ki Baat broadcast of 2022, noting that the virus was spreading in several nations.

The Prime Minister praised India’s rapidly expanding economy while claiming that 2022 had been an encouraging year for India in many respects. In the 96th episode of Mann Ki Baat, Prime Minister Modi said, “India carved out a special place for itself in the world with its tremendous vaccination doses of over 220 crores and the country becoming the fifth largest global economy.”
