PM Modi Set To Begin Three-Day Gujarat Tour, To Chair Key Meetings

| Updated: March 1, 2025 13:25

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to embark on a three-day visit to Gujarat on Saturday, following the Bharatiya Janta Party’s (BJP) victory in the state’s local body elections. The visit promises several key arrangements, meetings and site visits lined up across the state.

PM Modi will arrive in Jamnagar on Saturday Night, marking the start of the visit.

On the first day, he is scheduled to preside over a meeting of Shree Somnath Trust, a body he has been actively involved with as one of its trustees. The Somnath temple, located in Gir Somnath district, holds tremendous spiritual and cultural importance and Modi’s participation in the trust’s meetings reflects his deep commitment to preserving its heritage.

On the second day of his tour, Modi will visit Vantara, a state-of-the-art animal rescue, conservation and rehabilitation centre situated in Jamnagar. Spanning nearly 3000 acres, Vanatara serves as a sanctuary for rescued wildlife and endangered species. He is also expected to take part in a jungle safari at the centre, gaining firsthand experience of its conservation efforts.

A major highlight of the visit will be the meeting of the National Board for Wildlife(NBWL), which Modi will chair in Junagadh district. As the ex-officio of the Board, the Prime Minister will lead a discussion on a variety of wildlife-related issues focusing on policies for the protection of national parks and sanctuaries. The NBWL comprises 47 members, including the Chief of Army Staff, wildlife experts, state representatives, NGOs and chief wildlife wardens. The Board plays a crucial role in advising the government on wildlife conservation strategies across the country.

After the NBWL meeting, PM Modi is scheduled to meet with women forest staff at Sasan, recognising their pivotal role in wildlife conservation. The interaction will be a celebration of the dedication and contributions of these women, further highlighting the government’s commitment to empowering women in conservation efforts.

Later in the day, he will visit the historic Somnath temple in Gir Somnath district, where he will offer prayers. Dedicated to Lord Shiva, the temple is not only a spiritual landmark but also a symbol of India’s rich cultural heritage.

To conclude his three-day visit to Gujarat, PM Modi will fly out from Rajkot airport and make his way back to Delhi.
