The Police have invoked Protection of Children From Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) against a 23-year-old female teacher from Surat. The teacher was allegedly engaged in a physical relationship with her 13-year-old student.
They were missing since April 25 and were caught near the Gujarat-Rajasthan border in the wee hours on Wednesday. The missing complaint was filed by the boy’s father, who runs a provision store.
POCSO is rarely seen being invoked on a female.
Surat Police told reporters that several teams were formed to trace them. After leaving on April 25, the Mansi Nayi and the student went to Vadodara, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Delhi and Vrindavan before getting caught. They were on way back to Gujarat when the police nabbed them near Raigarh village.
Sources said during investigation it was revealed that the teacher engaged in physical relationship with the student during their stay at various places.
During their stay in Ahmedabad, they spent some time at the Kankaria Lake. They went by bus to different cities.
The teacher and the student live in the same apartment. While she lives on the third floor, the boy’s family, which hails from Rajasthan, lives on the second floor.
The police used human intellegence and several other methods to track them down. Their movements were also tracked on cctv cameras like at the V R Mall in Surat where they met before leaving Surat.
The boy has undergone medical tests.
