Remembering Elvis Presley On His 87th Birthday

Elvis Presley, the legend, world renowned singer and actor would have turned 87 today. He is considered a monumental cultural icons of the 20th century. His energetic portrayal of songs and performance style made him world famous. Born in Tupelo, Mississippi, he started his career in Memphis, Tennessee, in 1954. He was awarded with the Presidential Medal of Freedom by his country, USA. He also worked with the US Army as a sergeant and was awarded with a Good Conduct Medal . He started his career with Sun Records, with producer Sam Phillips, creating Sound of African American Music, on the rhythm acoustic guitar accompanied by lead guitarist Scotty Moore.

The star, a master in many genres like rock and roll, pop, rockabilly, country, gospel, R&B, and blues was also good with the vocals, guitar and playing piano. He worked with famous companies like Sun, RCA Victor, HMV, Allied Artists Music Group. Has been associated with many bands like The Blue Moon Boys, The Jordanaires, TCB Band. The list goes on. 

Presley holds the records for hit songs in the Billboard’s top 40 to 115 charts and in top 100 charts. He has given some amazing hits like All shook Up, Can’t Help Falling In Love, Suspicious Minds, In The Ghetto, and many more. As the legend turned 87 his fans showered him with a lot of love.
