Scoot Acted Fast Regarding Fliers Missing Amritsar-Singapore Flight: DGCA

| Updated: January 21, 2023 21:53

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said on Saturday that Scoot rescheduled its Amritsar-Singapore route on January 18, which resulted in a large number of passengers missing it.

According to the regulator, the timing of the flight was altered due to the ongoing fog at the Amritsar airport. The DGCA stated in a statement that it has requested a report from Scoot on the trip from Amritsar to Singapore on January 18 in which 17 passengers were inconvenienced because their travel agency failed to notify them of the change in schedule.

The watchdog stated the impacted fliers were taken care of and appreciated the quick response by the airline, citing the choices provided by the airline to them. According to the statement, the impacted passengers had three options: a free 14-day flight change, a certificate for a 100% refund, or a coupon for a 120% refund.

Scoot is a low-cost subsidiary of Singapore Airlines. Scoot apologised to the passengers for the inconvenience and stated that it was working to get the impacted fliers the help they needed on January 19.

“Due to inclement weather conditions affecting departures, the flight was retimed to depart Amritsar at 3.45 pm, instead of the original departure timing of 7.55pm. Affected passengers were notified in advance of the departure time change, through email and/or SMS, where possible based on the contact details provided,” it had said in a statement.
