Three days ago, an attempt to take a river side selfie cost the lives of two people in the Narmada district of Gujarat. The authorities have recovered the body of the man. However, they are yet to find the girl’s body.
The authorities have also deployed National Disaster Rescue Force (NDRF) team to find the girl’s body in the Karjan river. According to the officials, Sanjay Machi visited the Karjan river with his wife and sister-in-law on July 12.
They neglected the red alert due to the rains and disobeyed the order about staying away from the river. On Tuesday, the officials opened up the dam gates of the Karjan river due to the heavy showers in Gujarat. However, it resulted in a sudden upsurge in the river water level, and robust water levels swept Sanjay and his sister-in-law away.
The cops present near the stream managed to save Sanjay’s wife. But, before they could do anything, Sanjay and his sister-in-law Dikshita Machi drowned.
Later, NDRF officials found Sanjay’s body. However, they could not retrieve Dikshita’s corpse in the stretch of 8-10 kilometres.
Meanwhile, many such accidents due to heavy rainfall have come to light. The Karad river swept Pratap Parmar, a 42-year-old resident of Navariya Taluka in the Panchmahal district, while he was walking over the check dam, grazing his cattle.
