Surat Police on Monday, February 21, issued a statement announcing that a man had been arrested for raping and killing an 11-yeard old girl in Palsana town. The tragic incident happened on Sunday, when the girl and her brother were alone at home. The victim’s body was found by her parents near their house.
The victim’s parents had returned from work only to find that their daughter had gone out with their neighbour Dayaram Patel but was not yet back. Concerned and worried, the parents had begun searching when they discovered her lying on the ground, seriously injured. The girl had been rushed to the hospital where the doctors pronounced her dead. According top the doctors, the victim died due to severe injuries around her vagina and surrounding areas.
The police had been looking at two suspects, Dayaram and his companion Kaluram. According to the CCTV footage, Dayaram had taken the girl inside a room and also coming out alone after the crime. It is believed that he had also taken Kaluram with him to lock the door.
The police has arrested Dayaram and is questioning Kaluram. They are also gathering all sorts of medical evidence to determine if the victim was abused by one or more men.
