Surat is facing a serious problem with swine flu spreading rapidly in the city. In the past fifteen days, the city has recorded two swine flu death, and the number of cases has increased to 32. The local authorities are concerned about the situation and are stepping up their measures.
A 49-year-old woman tested positive for swine flu on July 22 and was admitted to New Civil Hospital (NCH) in the city. She passed away in the hospital. Another woman, also in her early 50s, died while getting treated at a local hospital.
These deaths and increasing cases have put the authorities on alert. They are reviewing the situation and strengthening the healthcare facilities for the same. According to sources, swine flu is dangerous for those with weak immunity and is adversely affecting people above the age of 40. With timely detection and immediate medical attention, the infection can be controlled and the patients can be cured, the source said.
