A young man from Surat has been given police protection as he had received threats for strongly condemning the brutal murder of Kanhaiya Lal. In Udaipur, Kanhaiya Lal was beheaded for speaking in support of ex-Bharatiya Janata Party leader Nuur Sharma who made insulting comments against Prophet Mohammad.
Yuvraj Pokhrana from Surat had protested against Kanhaiya Lal’s murder and a Muslim youth named Faisal threatened him on Instagram. Fearing for his life, Pokhrana had reached out to the city’s Police Commissioner’s Office and sought help. The authorities now stationed a gunman with Pokhrana so that he gets the required protection.
Two men, who posed as customers at a tailoring shop, on June 28, beheaded Kanhaiya Lal, after stabbing him multiple times. The resident of Udaipur’s Maldas Street had days earlier shared a social media post in support of Nupur Sharma. The assailants broke into his shop in broad daylight, stabbed him multiple times with a sword, and then slashed his throat. The complete attack’s video has also been widely available online.
After the crime, the suspect posted a message on social media in which he also admitted to carrying out the murder. The two individuals who boasted about the beheading threatened the life of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the video.
